I recently had several pieces of jewelry which have been in my family for many generations appraised by John Carlstrom of Jewelry Specialties, and I was extremely pleased with every aspect of the experience. John is very friendly and professional - very pleasant to do business with. I also felt that John was extremely honest, ethical, and very competent. He has an amazing knowldege of jewelry and gemology, and really took the time to help me understand everything about my family heirlooms. He also impressed me with his integrity; I was thinking about getting one of the gemstones reset, and although he stood to gain a sale from that decision, John advised me against it, explaining that there was a likelehood the stone would not withstand the setting process without suffering some sort of damage. I found John's price very reasonable, service fast (my appraisals were all done within 2 days) and friendly, and was very pleased with the quality of his work.
