Review content:
I would not advise anyone to use Olympia Moving and Storage based in Skokie, IL. We were moving from Illinois to Connecticut and our contract stated that deliveries of 601-1000 miles would be made in 1-10 business days. Our customer service rep, Zula, also stated that there were trucks going to CT twice a week. She assured us that we would receive our delivery within 7-10 business days. After giving her an exhaustive list of our belongings and # of boxes that we would be moving, I received a quote of $1983 based on 4,000 pounds. Once the contents of our condo were placed on the truck and weighed (now it's suddenly almost 5,000 pounds), the price shot up to almost $3,000 (almost $300 of that was from the enormous amount of tape and boxes that the movers used). We started calling the company the following week to determine the status of our delivery. We were told a different story every time we called. Finally, after sitting in a warehouse for 2 weeks, our items were packed onto a moving truck and departed from Illinois. When our delivery finally arrived on business day #12, there were only 2 people to unload the truck (the driver and some kid that he hired locally). It took them 6 hours to unload our items and bring them into our apartment. Olympia had stated that disassembly and reassembly were included in the charges. The driver and his kid assistant did not even try to reassemble our computer desk. They also put our bed frame together so haphazardly that we had to reassemble it ourselves for fear of it collapsing. I contacted the company to see about compensation for them being late and they offered me a measly $15/business day that they were late. They seem to think that being late is totally acceptable and will pretty much tell you so over the phone. Please DO NOT use this company for your moving needs. They will overcharge you, will not deliver on time as stated in their contract, and will not return your phone calls. Also, if they lose any boxes, don't expect to be compensated. Unless you can identify everything that was in the box and produce receipts for those items, they will not pay. Who keep receipts for everything that they own???
