Review content:
I was very excited to try this place based on the reviews, but despite my desire to like it, I was a bit disappointed. The restaurant itself is very charming, warm wood, beatiful candles, etc. - but that was quickly tainted by the service. Although the waitresses acknowledged we made reservations 2 months in advance and there were actually tables available, they made a big deal about calling to confirm but not having received a return call. I advised them I never received a call but they kept insisting. My point is does it really matter in this case when they have a table available? It really gave us a bad impression from the start. Then we ordered the chef's tasting menu, and while some items were quite good (i.e., seared scallop in broth, braised pork belly), some were just plain awful (i.e., thai curry venison - so oversalted that the only things you tasted was salt and peppercorn; when the waitresses inquired why we barely touched it, we told them it was too salty and one waitress literally glared at us and the other just looked sad - but no one really apologized or acknowledged that it was pretty bad - this isn't a matter of subjective taste when a table of 4 people can't stomach the same entree..). The meal ended with a pumpkin tart-like dessert that only half the table enjoyed. Luckily it was only $45 for the tasting menu so it wasn't a huge loss. Based on the price and the few glimmers of good food, I would still recommend another try for people who live nearby - but this is definitely not a destination spot for people like me who travel to distant locations to try amazing food.
Pros: Warm Interior
Cons: Sour service; Inconsistent Food
