Review content:
I bought online an Acer motherboard from Skyline Engineering on February 2012. However, the new motherboard didn't detect my laptop's battery. When I reported this I received the following message from Scott Mathison: ""We have not had that problem with these boards. The board was fully tested and working before we shipped it. It did recognize our battery."" Thinking that it could be a battery problem, I tried a couple of different technicians and they all said it was a motherboard problem. In addition, I almost had the BIOS modified (glad I didn't do such a risky task that would have voided my warranty). So I explained again the situation to Scott from Skyline Engineering and asked: ""What happened with the battery light when you tested [the motherboard] with the battery on?"" and he then wrote the following: ""I'm not the technician that tested it. There is a chance it was tested without a battery and therefore we would not have noticed the problem. You can return the board for another round of testing. If it's bad we will replace the board."" Please notice that at this point there is a contradiction: First Scott said the motherboard was tested and it ?did recognize [their] battery? and then he said ?there [was] a chance it was tested without a battery.? If he had admitted this I could have saved some money and avoided several trips to different local technicians. Returning the motherboard gave me another surprise, Skyline Engineering Inc?s warranty said that the customer has to pay for the shipping costs even if the product is defective. The customer also has a 15-day period to return it. Because of the remote place I'm temporarily living right now, I had to pay a more expensive service to ship the defective motherboard to Skyline Engineering Inc. After a week Skyline Engineering Inc. received the motherboard and not hearing back from them, I emailed Scott. He didn?t reply, one more week later I emailed him again. This time he said the following: ?The board you sent back was defective. Something to do with the battery light and the battery not being detected. We did not have a replacement for it so we gave you a full refund of $295.70.? I checked my bank account and the money had been reimbursed about two weeks before, I just hadn?t received any notification from Skyline Engineering Inc. They did give me a full refund of what I paid them, but what about my one hundred plus dollars for the shipping cost I pay? What about my trips to the nearest bigger city and the visits to the computer technicians that checked out my laptop with the defective motherboard? What about the whole two months without a motherboard that worked? What about all the work that I needed to do during this time? You may judge and decide whether you buy from Skyline Engineering Inc. or not, but I certainly do not recommend it. I did not have a positive experience.
