I was scheduled to have 2 teeth removed in order to make space for my orthodontia treatment. My appointment was for Monday at 8 a.m. At noon on Friday, the dentist who was supposed to do this service (a partner at my regular office) cancelled on me at last minute! Knowing that I had to schedule two days off from work for this, that I had to arrange for a driver and have him take off from work on Monday, it would have a high impact on my orthodontia treatment, and that I was a regular client of this office that I was scheduled at for about 10 years, I could not believe he cancelled on me - right before most dental offices closed as Fridays are often short days! Not only was I disappointed in the lack of their professionalism, I felt they slighted me the opportunity to schedule elsewhere. I am an adult...and I have a true fear of dental services, so this just complicated the issue further! I began addressing the issue by calling my own clients and friends and trying to find a dentist who 1) would answer the phone at such a late time on Friday, 2) would take a problem patient at last minute, 3) who had decent reviews on line and at various business connections I had access to (angie's list and such) and lastly, 4) who would make me feel comfortable by phone. A few referrals came in....one was very vague....""google Debbie in Fishers near 116th...."" I did this (hoping that the results would ""be"" the right Debbie...) I got lucky. I have no idea if the lady who answered was the right Debbie, but she definitely was the right one for me! I first asked, are you really from the office, or an answering service? She said she was from the office and had forwarded the phones for post work hours. She listened as I panicking-ly gave her the whole story of the cancellation and the short time frame I had to get this work done. I told her of the special needs I had in order to be comfortable in the office. I told her I had a driver and I would probably even throw up if I got too nervous. During this conversation, it was apparent HOW unnerved I actually am regarding dentists. I was in tears and hyperventilating just thinking of the fact I was ""blind-dating"" my dental care to someone who I didn't know. She made me feel calm, assuring me she and the doc would take superior care and make me feel comfortable. I got there on Monday and she and Dr Clauss were far more comforting than I ever expected. They made my friend (driver) feel comfortable and even let him come back to the room for the ""surgery"" to support me. They handled me with kid-gloves and treated me like I was not a problem at all....and I know I am a bit to handle when it comes to dental. The service was completed properly, gently, and above all, the dentist gave me his personal cell phone in case I needed anything. He called a couple times to check on me. His office followed up with me also in regards to pain management. It was the first time all I needed was ADVIL and ice packs (except for night time where I finally gave in and took a low dose pain & sleep pill to get me through nights 3 & 4). I HIGHLY recommend Dr Clauss and his staff. I feel they went out of their way to solve my problem that they did not have any responsibility for! And they did it with STYLE. For those germ-a-phobes out there....the office was impeccably clean. The staff was efficient and friendly. They handled my insurance prior - even though they had short notice of my appointment. They even called and got my orthodontist to fax the panoramic film over to them and then took 2 x-rays to make sure there hadn't been anything that changed since February - since I have had braces for the past 7 months. In short, there was nothing they did wrong! Please give them a try!
