Review content:
AC went out - I called and scheduled an appointment. Service guy arrives at scheduled time and we get started. I basically stand over his shoulder to watch the process and see what he does. Diagnostic (which is basically the service call fee covers)and he finds the problem. The problem as he called it was the "COIL PAK" - I didn't and STILL DON'T know what this was/is. I asked and he said it was the "Battery" futher discussion led to it's more like a "starter". - the part replaced was actually the RUN CAPACITOR. ($30-$100 part) spicifically mine can be found at around $80.
Replaced tested...we were good.
COST of service $59.90 cost to replace "Coil Pak" $268.50 That's right 3X the cost of the part. I get profit and mark up but this is deception. NOTE: I found out about the cost the next day. HOWEVER, I did call a few hours after service to discuss the service and a coupon for $50 off. I told them what the service was and they said that the "parts" refund wasn't applicable BUT did offer 10 off my bill...I took it. SOMETHING STILL bothered me so I found an AC diagram because I couldnt' find anything about "coil pak", to see what the part what that was replaced. That's how I know what the cost is today.
I have to assume this is a "Service" and not a part replacement...however I was never told that, and we didn't DO anything except replace and test. (20mins tops)
Initially I loved the service and process...until I found out what the actual costs were. I feel like I've been duped and or taken advantage of. I'd like 1st class to explain what a "coil pak" is and attempt to justify the charged cost vs. the actual service/part replacement. I would also like a more equitable solution. If we come to one I will adjust my review and ratings accordingly.
