?Settling? for Stillwater Country Club was unavoidable for us - we were getting married in Stillwater and didn?t want our guests to drive far for the reception, but every other venue in Stillwater was booked. Of course, having to settle guaranteed mostly bad experiences for us. The club manager seemed nice at first & was initially and sometimes helpful throughout the planning process, but overall we were highly unimpressed & often disgusted with the way we were treated: we were constantly reminded that it was a private club so the members had precedence, as if the thousands of dollars we were dropping there was nothing; anytime we questioned things the manager said that he had been ?doing this for 17 years with no problems?; we never filled out any official forms except our contract (meaning nothing else we did/said was documented); the manager forgot about our tasting & the chef had to make some food quick for us to try; the manager booked a last minute funeral luncheon the day before our wedding, the day we were supposed to decorate the club. I received no call or email about this event, on a day we had made plans first, and several family members ended up taking the day off for nothing ? we had to decorate after 6 pm and weren?t finished until after 9 pm. On our wedding day: the club?s wireless mic system was on & interfered with our DJ?s equipment, creating loud disruptive noises during dinner; wild rice was left out of everyone?s meal; some of the wait staff refused to refill water pitchers or forgot to top off coffee; the manager mis-read my email and started setting up buffet tables when we had asked for plated dinner ? he argued with my mother-in-law about this until he gave in; the wait staff not only cut our sheet cakes instead of the layer cake, which went uneaten except by my husband & me, but also started cutting and serving cake before we had even cut our first slice! Overall, very sloppy, unprofessional work & attitudes. Beautiful venue though.
Pros: SCC Supreme Chicken was delicious; reasonable food and beverage prices; beautiful building/setting; ample parking; large dance floor; cake cutting service for a fee; table linens provided
Cons: Besides the above, there was no in-house decorator or deco available; families had to set up some tables the day of the wedding;
