Review content:
I wouldn't recommend this funeral home to my WORST enemy! Aside from their rude staff and drivers, R.G. Ortiz Funeral Home is operated more like a cut-throat business than a compassionate company dealing with grieving relatives.
Firstly, I was not given an itemization of funeral services and merchandise selected UNTIL I HAD ALREADY PAID the for the said services; therefore had I no way of disputing the incurred amount. (i.e. Flowers/prayer cards originally claimed to have been included in the price of BASIC arrangements were later added in as 'additional merchandise')
Aside from this, the Funeral Home booked Funeral Services at the church(In the Lower East Side of Manhattan) at 11:00am to hastily transport my AUNT's body for burial at 12:00pm( Bronx) and left almost NO TIME for travel consideration.
This disappointment of course, was COMPOUNDED when the LIVERY driver LEFT my GRIEVING family members BEHIND at the mass to RUSH the deceased to the CEMETERY (which closed at ::SURPRISE:: 12:00pm) for burial.
THEY DID NOT PROVIDE TRANSPORTATION (WHICH I PAID FOR!!!!)
I called the main office to bring it to their attention immediately- instead of trying to AMELIORATE the situation- and apologize for the driver's blatant inconsideration for MY GRIEVING FAMILY- she RUDELY said that there was nothing that she could do.
I suggested the secretary call the driver in order to inform him that he ABANDONED the family and return to pick them up. She claimed that the livery drivers did not OWN cell phones...!
Furthermore-- after all the hurried mess that BECAME my aunt's burial on account of R.G. Ortiz's Funeral Services; I find that THEY ERRONEOUSLY OMITTED HER SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER on her DEATH CERTIFICATE!
I'm STILL trying to correct this ERROR; I had to submit applications and notarize a NUMBER of papers in addition to incurring MORE FEES!!
As a matter of fact, I am STILL awaiting a formal letter from the funeral home admitting this omission (REQUIRED BY THEM TO CORRECT A DEATH CERTIFICATE)
All of this in MINIMAL in comparison to the STRAIN, GRIEF, STRESS and CONFUSION that my family had to endure!!!!!
SAVE YOURSELF THE AGONY and LOOK ELSEWHERE for your funeral services!
Pros: NONE!!!!
Cons: Unprofessional, RUDE and inconsiderate service, low quality
