Call this a public service announcement. If, for any reason, your car has to be towed in Kirkwood, be VERY aware of the practices of the towing company Kirkwood uses. D&L Towing of Valley Park has a ""pretty sweet"" operation going. On Friday, my husband was involved in an accident that happened *immediately* in front of our house. Totaled the car. All I wanted, was for them to move the car SIX FEET onto the sidewalk, where I could arrange to have a junk shop pick it up the next day. I told the officer that. Then, I left to go to the hospital where they were taking my husband. The next day, I find out that D&L Towing has taken the car all the way to Valley Park and is now charging a $25/day storage fee. They close at 2:00 pm on Saturday (trust me, on Saturday, arranging for the car was NOT at the top of my priority list, given that my husband was in ICU). They're not open on Sunday. So, tomorrow, I will pay an additional $75 for ""storage"", on top of the $230 (!) they charged to tow a car I didn't want towed in the first place, that was totaled IN FRONT OF MY HOUSE. Oh..and cash only! No credit card, no debit card. ...Pretty great business, huh?
