Review content:
Several years ago we contracted with Kevin of Rock Solid Creations to create Air Vol walls and patio areas in our backyard. We like Kevin and his personality. He is very personable. We were quite pleased with the way the backyard turned out even though the project took considerably longer than projected by Kevin. During the construction, Kevin noted that the key to using the Air Vol blocks for walls and patios was to handle the rain water that would collect behind the blocks. Kevin said that he would guarantee that there would not be a problem with the construction his company performed because they were experts. However, after the first year, the patio area constructed by Rock Solid Creations to hold our hot tub began to sink. I contacted Kevin to ask about this issue. Kevin assured me that a little settling was not a problem as he had designed the construction in coordination with Air Vol. He said there was no risk of a collapse. Since then the sinking has continued and the walls holding the patio seem to be pushing out. After repeated attempts to contact Kevin about this issue, he finally came out with an Air Vol representative in December of last year (2011). The Air Vol rep said he hoped that the problem was only a result of not using sheeting over the rock aggregate base and the top base of sand holding the pavers was falling through the aggregate causing the sinking. But that a definitive answer would require pulling up the pavers. The rep volunteered sheeting to correct the problem if that was the problem and Kevin said he would get back to us with a plan shortly. It is now June of 2012 and no response to repeated queries to Kevin and Rock Solid Creations. If you want the nice looking work that may fall apart and cause you to sue Rock Solid Creations, then choose them. Otherwise, run the other way.
