Review content:
Having enjoyed lots of sushi here over many years, I count the total experience as higher than any one piece. No expert on rolls, I've enjoyed their flavor more than their usually-gargantuan size. When Kaya has toro, or special salmon or yellowtail, it's sometimes nearly divine, always good, and usually temperate (not cold). However, I've been burned twice with uni, so I always its quality before ordering it. Albacore - great, sometimes really fine. Also eel, though I don't know why such huge portions.
Better, more ""authentic"" sushi restaurants exist out here. But Kaya consistently provides good fish and smiling staff - who are always willing to make up for a mistake. Cap it off with a beautiful new waterfall and occasional visual underwater tours, and Kaya stands out as a nice L.A. sushi house.
