Soundview Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery is at best incompetent or at worst dishonest in their billing practices. I went in for a simple tooth extraction and implant procedure and received an estimate which I paid before the procedure. After I received a bill that was 22% higher than the initial quote, when I challenged the bill I was told that it was a problem with insurance. They said they would contact the insurance company straighten it out and then contact me. They never contacted me, instead they turn the unpaid amount over to a collection agency. You can imagine that I was not happy when I went to their office to again question why the bill was 22% higher than estimated for a simple procedure and ask why they did not call me as promised. Their response was that my phone was no longer in service which of course was not true. In the end I paid the overcharge to protect my credit rating but I will never go there again. If I underestimated project costs by 22% I would not have a job for long. These people seemed unashamed and had all the answers for why my bill was 22% more than their estimate. I suspect that either underestimating or overcharging is a common business practice for them.
