I did not have a good experience with Empire Van Lines. On moving day, I provided the movers with a generous, above average, tip. The lead mover counted out the cash in front of me and proceeded to tell me that I lacked ""tipping etiquette"" and that he didn't make enough money and required 10-20% of the total move cost as a tip. I was not kept informed of the status of my move. The office lied and told me my items were expected to arrive that weekend, which was three weeks after picking them up. In reality, my items took approximately 5 weeks to arrive. The delivery man was to call 24-48 hours prior to delivering my items at the destination, and he failed to do so. He actually tried to deliver my items at midnight. Overall, my experience with United Van Lines was awful. Although their inital estimate was lower than other companies, the mover increased the price and I ended up paying as much as what a national chain would have cost. NOT recommended.
