Review content:
Coincidentally, this is not my ideal bakery. I would be much happier if it were more like El Bolillo since it is so close to my house and conveniently located across from a large Kroger in case I am in need of any other grocery items. Yet, when a trip up to the Airline markets does not fit in the schedule this is a great place to have just up the road.
Ideal?s glass cases are stocked with all the standard Mexican mystery pastries. Even the woman working the counter will not be able to name many of them or really tell you what they are. This is where the gamble comes in. You may be taking home a scrumptious tart of flaky goodness and pastry cream or you may just end up with layers of sugar coated Pillsbury crust. At about $0.50 a pop, the gamble is at least more on your taste buds than on your pocket book.
What you cannot go wrong with, however, are the tasty bolillos that are 3/$1 most days and 5/$1 on Tuesdays. They will render you incapable of paying the outrageous prices commanded by the modern grocery store baguette now that you are reminded of just how inexpensive water and flour really are.
