Businiess name:  El Cortez Mexican Restaurant

Review content:
It is amazing how hard it is to find really good authentic Mexican food in Orange County (even LA). I came from San Diego where many good restaurants and just casual ones are fantastic. I lived in Santa Barbara too and it was fantastic like San Diego. Orange County and LA brings about some serious searching. This place was good but not anything to get excited about and certainly over priced. I always order a shredded beef taco & chicken enchilada combo when first trying a restaurant because if they can get that right at least then the rest of the menu has hope. This place charges you $1 extra for shredded beef in the taco and another $1 for the chicken in the enchilada! It was originally priced at $9.95 which for a restaurant combo that is fair but not when they add $ for the meat!! Especially for the taco! The guy said it was a special process for the meat. I told him I had NEVER encountered such in a Mexican restaurant. And to boot there was only about 2 tablespoons of meat in the taco and same for the enchilada. The enchilada was really small. Beans are good. Rice is bland. I am off to search for another Mexican restaurant . . . . worst case, I'll take a drive to San Diego for the real stuff!
