Review content:
I've been reviewing restaurants for 28 years. I'm retired now but still find it hard not to speak my mind so now I do it for free! I gave Amores 5 stars. If it were in NYC I would have given it 4 based on competition being so strong that a 5 in NYC is unheard of. To start the crust was light and fluffy but thin and crisp which I have had the trouble of finding in the triangle. The sauce not to sweet but not bitter. Being in the industry for sooo long I could pick up on some of the products Amores uses and it was nothing but the best. I had a slice of cheese..which is always the way to go when first trying a new Pizzeria and the cheese was full of flavor not like a cheap processed cheese made up of mostly fillers which I have found at a majority of the pizzerias in Raleigh. Then I had a slice of Roma Spinach which was new to me but made me want to go for a third (which I didn't because my stomach would have exploded). The size of the slices where that of what i'm used to in Brooklyn. I tried the Pizza around the corner at I love NY pizza and i'll tell you NY would hate that pizza. To be far I tried in twice and am giving it one final shot before I make my offical review but the crust tasted like stale bread, the cheese was flavorless and the sauce tasted like nothing but garlic powder and oregano. Being the critic I am I have to try things for myself before I make an opinion so I ask you to do the same. That's Amore is the hidden gem of the Raleigh Pizza industry!
Pros: Makes it hard to eat pizza anywhere else in Raleigh
Cons: Hidden location...needs better visual from Hillsborough
