My family and I and two friends with there kids(3 and 14)went for the weekend. Got there Friday, had a wonderful time all day. When night came that's when all the trouble started. A few campsites away from us there were kids having a grate time, they were not disturbing us at all. Later in the night a few of them jump in the water. From dusk to about that time a park ranger has been driving around every few hours.
About an hours after the kids jump in the water, that park ranger pulls up to are campsite and comes over with his flashlight pointing it at us, asking us what were we doing. At first we did not think noting of it, until we figured out that he was assuming we were the one making the noise. He said their was a noise complaint called in and we told him it was not us we did not even have music playing. But he seems like he did not care what we said. Then he ask if anyone was disturbing us, and we said no. Then he says, because your probably the one's disturbing everyone else. That what got me and my wife angry. Then he ask if we were in the water, and as we are answering no, he's flashing the light up and down to see if we were wet. At that exact moment the park ranger's accusing us, the guilty ones (the kids) came walking around the corner screaming and laughing and wet from having a grate time I'm guessing. So my wife already angry says in a loud voice, I GUESS THAT'S US OFFICER. He got really angry, his face turn red. He run up to the kids yelling at the top of his lungs and ask what campsite they were in and that they were being evicted from the park. Then he comes back over to us and instead of apologizing for making a mistake he evicts us to. And he tells me if my wife do not shut up he was going to arrest her for bridge of peace. Tells us we have to pack up and leave we were in shock, it's about 2:00 am in the morning and we have kids sleeping. He then jump in his truck and goes to the kids site to make sure they were packing up. He drives back to our campsite and I go up to him and tells him we have kids sleeping and there would be no way to pack up in the middle of the night. If it was a little lite out I would have pack up with no problem at all but it was to dark. So he tells me all this time his yelling at the top of his lungs that in the ""morning"" he want us out of here. So me and my wife get up in the morning around 8:30/9 and go the the restrooms to wash up, my 15yr old come running up to us a says that the ranger was a our site so we rush over to see whats going on. He jumps out of his truck and says, I thought I told you to be out of here at 8:30, we look at each other with even more shock and I said you did not say a time, you said in the morning, but we new he just wanted to get us angry so he can make an arrest. He ask for my wife ID and proceeds to write her a $75 ticket for trespassing. Then he tells us that we don't have to leave just my wife, I guess that's how they do it were he was from, to us you kick my wife out you kick everyone out. So we started to pack are thing's. I have been camping for many years and a few time at Hopeville and never had this happen to us. I will never go to hopeville again. I'm writing this review so no family has experience what we had too. My wife is a paralegal for a law firm and we will be filing a complaint with the EPA.
