The Bay Area is not known for good BBQ but E&J's is fabulous. I get a beef and link combo almost once a week, which consists of a generous helping of homemade all beef links (the best I've ever had, anywhere!) and slow smoked brisket smothered in your choice of sauces (go with medium because hot is just ridiculous) and served with a side of potato salad and a coue of slices of wheat bread. The salad is pretty standard but compliments the meat well and the sauce is delicious. The service is laid back but friendly and this location is mostly for take-out orders, but the place is full of character and has a very unique feel, at least it does to me. The Jack London Square location offers proper table service and has a full bar, but the service is spotty and the prices at JLS are higher.
