Review content:
My central air unit wasn't blowing as cold as it should have been, so I called Hon Heating & Cooling. The repairman found and repaired a leak in a line. He then asked me to turn the unit on so he could refill it. After some time he told me that the unit was bad and that I would be needing a new one. He also said that the compressor just stopped when he was filling it. He took measurements of my furnace, asked me for $89 and said that his boss (Steve Hon) would be calling the next morning with a quote for a new a/c unit. Remembering that the repairman had told me that he had only been out of trade school and employed by Hon for three months, I decided a second opinion would be wise. After waiting until 1:00 the following day for Steve Hon to call with his estimate, which never happened, I called a respected company that a friend had recommended to me. GFC Heating and cooling came later that afternoon to check the a/c unit out. After inspecting the unit, GFC's owner told me that the guy from Hon's had filled the unit too fast, ruining the compressor's shaft internally. While I was being told this, Hon's repairman from the day before called to ask if he could come and look at the unit again ""just in case"". By this time, GFC was already removing the old unit. I told Hon's guy what GFC had told me, about the unit being filled too fast. Hon's repairman then back-tracked and told me that he hadn't even tried to fill the unit. The guy was blatantly lying. GFC installed a new unit that is working great. I'm now out $969 because of Hon Heating & Cooling's ineptness. Hon charged me the $89 for destroying the old unit, and the new one was $880. I've called Hon's five times since last Friday (June 27th, 2008), and left messages for Steve Hon to return my calls. Today is July 2nd, and Hon is still dodging me, not returning my phone calls. Save yourself a lot of money and aggravation and call a more honest and reputable company. Hon will see picket signs soon.
Cons: Non-experienced employees
