Review content:
Lindy's/Gertie's is a South Side phenomenon, a small chain that does chili, cheap eats, and most especially ice cream brilliantly. You won't find these anywhere on the North Side or North Suburbs, but that's okay, we South Siders like our local secret. :) Even though the place sells primarily burgers and dogs (and chili, of course), it's not fast food. You sit down in a plush diner-style booth, your orders are taken by a waitress, everything is made up fresh, and they do ""have it your way"" much better than Burger King ever could. The chili is award-winning and I bring visitors from all over to sample it. They're also the only place you can find Green River soda outside of the month of March. But the best part is the ice cream. Better ice cream doesn't exist. I would put Gertie's ice cream up against any other ice cream and see it a winner. This ice cream is what custard aspires to be and fails. Whether you're eating it straight up in a cup or a cone, or you're like me and ask for a banana split (so big, I have to share it with a partner), there's no finer frozen treat in town.
Pros: Price, Quality, Service, they have it all.
Cons: Not a one.
