Review content:
I grew up in Long Beach. Happily, I lived there long enough to grow up and take myself (and my family and friends!) to Russell's Famous Hamburgers several times before they closed the Long Beach AND the Seal Beach locations. *sigh* Hands down, no blowing smoke, this is THE BEST BURGER I'VE EVER HAD! Luckily, there is still a location in Pasadena. Quaint, bustling, upscale but not uppity, near good parking (they validate, too!) and shopping, and always warm and inviting - Russell's is the kind of diner that makes you feel like it should be snowing outside because it's so cozy. The meat used for the burgers is almost ""creamy"" in its consistency. I know that sounds strange, but it's so tender and delicious. Freshly cooked to perfection on a crispy-edged bun, all the fixins you want. I like mine with cheddar, lettuce, tomato, 1000 Island dressing and tangy pickle... all wrapped in that neat paper wrapper on a white diner plate. Mmm sublime! Good prices, clean, surroundings, always excellent service (especially at the counter) and always consistently delicious. The pies are great, too, but the Russell's experience is ALL ABOUT THE BURGER! Go! Go now!
Pros: Best burgers EVER! Good beef barley soup and great pies, too!
Cons: That there aren't MORE locations still open! :(
