Review content:
Our family has enjoyed Shoguns in Oklahoma City from the time it was located on N. Portland to its present home in the Northpark Mall, and have always enjoyed our dining experience there. We have made it our anniversary tradition.
Shogun's holds a quiet, peaceful ambience to encourage a pleasant experience with its ""hibachi in the round"" format. A party of two can expect to be seated with 1 to 6 other guests, although most recently we had a table to ourselves amid an otherwise busy restaurant.
Shogun's special ginger salad dressing is good, but it does take some getting used to if you're accustomed to a thick ranch-style variety. We also upgrade from steamed rice to ham-fried, and splurge on the extra shrimp appetizer which is always beautifully cooked.
We typically order the Samurai Special, which is a steak and chicken combination dinner. Steaks are cooked precisely as ordered, and most of the chefs are more than capable of putting on an entertaining show. That said, we have had one or two instances over the years where a decided novice was at the helm, leaving the show lacking, and the fried rice under-seasoned, which was a little disappointing. But that's the exception, not the rule. Our most recent visit last December was delightful and in keeping with our best prior Shogun experiences.
With consistently good food, pleasant service, and rich atmosphere, we have no hesitation recommending Shogun's to anyone looking for a departure from what might be deemed more conventional Oklahoma City restaurant offerings. Enjoy!
