Review content:
Less than a month ago I purchased insoles for my son's soccer shoes. Since he didn't have the shoes with him we took them home without trying them on. We had bought these same insoles at this store before. When I returned them I was informed by the clerk that they had a 10 day return policy. I told her that I had not been informed of that policy. She then proceeded to tell me it didn't matter because it was written in the fine print at the bottom of the receipt. I was completely fabbergasted by the short time frame given for returns and told her that I felt that was unacceptable. She continued that it was store policy and that there was nothing she could do about it. Then she questioned my integrity by indicating that she thought the insoles had been worn. When I assured her that they had not even been removed from the box she smelled them as if to say that I was lying. After consulting with her manager she decided she was going to do me a favor and refund my money "just this once." I assured her there would not be an another opportunity because I will never shop there again. Had I known about the 10 day return policy I probably would not have made the purchase because I live 30 miles away from the store and would not make a special trip back just for that purchase.
I was very disappointed in the attitude of the clerk who assisted me. It is not my nature to be untruthful and I did not appreciate her insinuations. Furthermore, I had thought I would look around the store for my own shopping once the transaction was complete but after being treated so discourteously this store lost my business. There are a number of ways this problem could be alleviated in the future. One, put it in large print at the cash register where customers can see it. Two, the clerk could highlight it on the receipt to draw attention to the short return period. Three, have a more reasonable return period.
Meanwhile, I returned other insoles, bought the same day, at a different shoe store in Frederick. No problem.
