Review content:
While we had our hopes for a decent tapas/nuevo latino restaurant NOT in the city, we were let down. Ramblas, Timos, even Cha Cha Cha greatly outshine the food served at Cascal. Of the four dishes we tried, there was not a single one we could have outdone at home. Overcooked mussels were lost in a sea of chorizo infused suace. The potatoes gratin bacalao was overpowered by some chili and had absolutely no trace of salt cod. We tried the ceviche sampler and were similarly underwhelmed: too much lime and chili here, not enough flavor elsewhere. I've had better ceviche at a tacqueria on Winchester ave... sadly enough. Only the Moraccan veal stew managed to taste the way it should. That is to say the flavors were balanced, but it was average at best. So our problem remains- either make it at home or drive to SF. Pros: Convenient location, Attractive interior Cons: , $15 corkage fee
