Businiess name:  Kelly Mc Knight Wrecker Svc

Review content:
My car was unlawfully taken; the perpetrator wrecked it. The APD failed to notify me of the incident, but had it immediately towed to, and impounded by Kelly McKnight Wrecker Service. When I was informed that my vehicle had been located and was being stored at Kelly McKnight's, I was also told that in order to pick up my car I would have to pay an initial fee of $350.00 and an additional $20.00 daily ""storage fee"" for each day thereafter. I never thought that the victim of a crime would be forced by the city to pay for the criminal's act! If you don't feel like doing the math, this comes to $140.00 a week; $560.00 a month!! But that is not all. My car was impounded 8/24/09, and became property of the state on 11/04/09, because i could not raise $2210.00 to regain possession of my vehicle, which was STOLEN from me! I was also told that on 11/05/09, my car would be publicly auctioned. Due to my limited income, I knew I would be unable to pay. After two weeks, I called a friend for advice. She suggested calling them and inquiring as to whether or not I could participate in the auction. I called them, stating that I was the owner of a vehicle up for auction and wanted to know if I would allowed to bid on it. On two different occasions, a Mcknight's employee stated that this would be no problem. I felt this was my only option at this point. The day of the auction I was able to buy my OWN car back. The buyers were told to make arrangements with the lot manager to get the cars. Unsure of regulations; I asked if I could personally tow my car or if I needed to get professional services. While discussing the matter with the lot manager, a strange woman rudely overtook the conversation. She did not state her identity or affiliation to the co., but she did accuse me and my family of ""theft of services"" for buying my car back. Shocked by her outburst, and unexplainable familiarity to my situation, my mom replied to her, saying how unhappy we were with the entire situation. This woman refused to hear my story. She cut us off and told us to leave. We were shocked, & confused .Later I arrived with the wrecker service, the lot manager told me the lady was the daughter of Mcknight's owner. It was no wonder why the lot manager at the time made no attempt to interject on our behalf, probably out of fear for his job. Her remark regarding ""theft of services"" on my part resulted in my fearing I had broken the law, even though on two seperate occasions I had verified the legality of my action. Being contracted by and associated with the county, it would seem as if there would be more concern as to how this company is managed and percieved by the community. It makes one wonder what is really going on!!!!Upon further review I have found several other individuals with similar stories of corruption and exploitation. Even the BBB has recieved complaints about them, but for some reason cannot follow through because they ""cannot locate business address"". Isn't that odd? Especially since I was just there. I think in my complaint to the BBB, I will include directions from both yahoo maps and mapquest so that they will have their address. It is strange how easily APD uses their services, yet the BBB cannot find them. With their business practices in question, and the enormous fees they charge the owners of the impounded vehicles, what exactly is their arrangement with the city? Pros: Service CANNOT get any WORSE!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cons: CORRUPT, MIS-MANAGED, RUDE, and EXPLOITIVE!!!!!!!!!
