Review content:
I tried out trim for the first time during the Abbot Kinney festival because I liked the vibe. The haircut was ok and the atmosphere was fun enough that it warranted a second visit. I am new to the LA area and was interested in a regular salon. On my second visit I encountered a host of problems. First, the receptionist didn't match the rest of the environment. She was a cranky elderly lady who verbally chastised the employees in front of the customers (red flag number one). She kind of had the feel of a factory supervisor keeping the workers in check. Then, while I was getting a haircut, she was harassing the stylist to hurry up for the next customer. Not a good feeling to know your stylist is doing a rush job on you with scissors in hand. The final straw occurred after I left. I had accidentally left my sunglasses at the stylist's station. These were mid grade mens sunglasses, about a $300 pair, not exorbitant, but not cheap either. I called afterwards, and the stylist had the glasses and put them in the receptionists drawer behind the counter with a note on them. When I returned a few days later the glasses had vanished. The cranky elderly lady (see red flag number one) at the front gave some sort of OJ simpson like defense claiming that there was no proof that someone had taken them. The owner never returned my calls, and no attempts were made to compensate me or at the very least offer an apology. Very sad experience overall, and the fact that some employees there obviously have pretty sticky hands, probably means there are some fault lines beneath the faux hip facade of this salon. Customer service isn't a high point because they seem quite ok with losing good customers. Id stay away, there are plenty of reputable places on Abbot Kinney and girls with tattoos aren't exactly a commodity in LA.
