Review content:
Finding a good hair salon is as difficult as finding the right mate. Actually, the characteristics one looks for in a hairdresser are much the same as the characteristics one looks for in a husband: i.e. someone you can trust, someone who makes you feel good about yourself, someone who can fix what's broken. I found the perfect "hair mate" for me last year after years of searching. My hair was so broken by bad color jobs that when I combed it, pieces of hair flew all over the room. I had gone to three different salons in Memphis, each of which not only progressively burned my hair but also progressively lightened my wallet. The last salon I went to before coming to Diva was the most expensive and purportedly exclusive of all of the ones I had been to. Despite the fact that I kept asking the hairdresser, "Are you sure you should be using bleach on my hair? It seems to me that the bleach is what is making it break", I was continually reassured that it is completely normal to have breakage after a dye job and that I should, "leave everything to them". Finally, by the time I came to Ted Cortese at Diva, my hair was less than an inch long in parts. When I met Ted I asked him if he thought it would be possible to color my hair without breakage. He said the same thing the other hairdresser said..."Don't worry, leave everything to me." Because I had heard from others and reading a review much like this one, I took the risk. After one visit I knew that my relationship with Diva would be a long lasting one. Ted was right. For the first time in years my hair is growing and not breaking! People even stop me and compliment me on how much my hair shines and how much body my hair has. I am so grateful to Ted and the staff at Diva for all they have done to help me regain my self-esteem that I was losing due to the aweful condition my hair was in before coming to Diva. I also want to compliment Diva on their respect for my time. At all of the other salons I have been to in Memphis, I would sit and wait for hours while the hairdressers would juggle four or five customers at a time while I sat wasting my time. I also detested going to the other studios because I hated hearing the hairdressers gossiping and whining about their personal problems. When I go to Diva I am given my hairdresser's full attention. I really appreciate the fact that they are more concerned with my schedule than theirs. They are also very understanding of the fact that because of my strange work schedule I can't always call weeks in advance to make an appointment. I completely trust the people at Diva and am so grateful and relieved that I found them before I had no hair left. The other studios seemed to care less whether I went completely bald! They should be shut down for lying to people as they did to me. Val S.
