Review content:
I can't believe their original location is STILL standing. I went here years ago buying into the fact that I could learn about 20 styles of Martial Arts for a (back then) reasonable price. I stayed for about 2 1/2 years very slowly progressing (partially due to the fact that their cirriculum changes almost weekly, repition of the same routines for EVERY level, and an "instructor" named Ed Mendoza had some personal dislike towards me while my cousin who was taking classes with me at the time and was benethe me abilitywise fell in favor of him all the time). I liked the people I was with, I didn't like the staff, the instruction, or the facility. Basically, the facility has a 1st floor with a very low celing where the kid classes and the "OLD SKOOL weight room" is and a 2nd floor with 2 studios and a boxing ring. Fast forward to present day and despite them now having a 2nd location, they still S U C K !!! What good of a Martial Artist are you going to become if you have to pay over $100 for what you THINK you're learning over 20 styles of Martial Arts? Plus, if you look at the television shows like UFC, IFL, Pride FC, you're NOT going to find many Karate or Kung Fu fighters but rather fighters who wrestle, do Muay Thai, and (what's now really popular) Brazillian Ju Jitsu (which Degerberg doesn't teach). Speaking of Degerberg, don't be fooled by that slim rough looking guy that you see on his logo, he's actually a fat, bald, old man who looks like someone who hasn't kept up his training in AGES!!! I actually took a nunchaku "seminar" with him and he hardly lifted a finger; just talked like he knew what he was talking about. It's not worth it and you WON'T learn 20 different styles (and believe me, that's NOT what you call Mixed Martial Arts). You'll be better off finding a Brazillian Ju Jitsu school with a teacher who actually was taught be a Gracie sibling. Pros: good for "beginning" kids who need an extracirricular activity Cons: Bad Instructors, Bad Facility, Overrated, Overpriced, Misleading Ads, Head Instructor is an OLD FAT GUY
