Review content:
We hired Frazee to tile our bathroom because Frazee was listed by the concierge service from our real estate agent. The reviews on Angie's list also seemed to suggest they would do a good job. While we could have tiled the bathroom ourselves, I wanted a style of tile that my partner warned me would be a pain in the neck to install. So, instead of spending all weekend without a toilet and having lots of frustration, we decided just to pay someone. The initial basic estimate was only about 100 dollar more than it would have cost for us to do it ourselves, and given all the other work we were doing on the house at the time, having our weekend for other things seemed well worth it. We did all the initial demolition ourselves (e.g., pulling up baseboards, nails, the sink, etc) before they got there thinking that would save us the demo cost. This was not the case. The actual cost ended up being about $150 more than the initial estimate (although to their credit, they did stick to the estimate they gave once the floor had been measured exactly, etc, but still we should have gotten some discount on doing the demo ourselves I think ). Also, we live in a 60 year old house, so the walls are obviously not straight. If we had done the job ourselves, we would have done what is typical: lay the tile out first, starting at the middle of the room and working out in a cross, then adjusting and filling in where necessary before beginning. Frazee simply started laying in tiles from the back wall over. As a result, at the threshold there was about an eighth of a tile at the edge on one side, and almost a whole tile on the other side. This meant our tile (though technically straight) looks completely crooked. Also, the marble threshold they brought with them did not cover the area where the wood met the tile so there was a rough messy wood edge that we ended up fixing ourselves. After much argument, and my partner getting angrier than I have ever seen him, the tile guys pulled up the last few rows of tiles to try to make them look more straight, but the job still looks poor mediocre at best. They also did not seal the grout. Next time we will definitely do it ourselves. Pros: punctual, easy to talk to, helpful without being aggressive Cons: poor quality job, more expensive than anticipated
