Review content:
I've been to many gyms and wellness centers, but UNC's Wellness Center in Meadowmont is absolutely amazing! When you walk in, the front desk staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and visually, the facility is fantastic: interesting colors on the walls, LOTS of natural light. The place is clean, locker rooms, pool, machines, even under equipment (sounds weird, but when you are lying on the floor doing stretches, you see this!). It is a great big place, offering about 100 group x classes per week (have not tried these yet), tons of cardio and strength equipment and clinical services like PT and cardiac rehab. The thing that really stood out to me was the staff. They are friendly, approachable and if they didn't know the answer, they find out for you. They dress in uniforms, so you don't have to wonder who works there. I recently started personal training there and their trainers are well educated, all are certified and they don't hire people who are brand new trainers. My trainer met with me to do baseline measurements and discuss my goals, then developed a program that is fun, varied and really challenging. Their massage staff offer a massage called a Facial Wellness Massage that I hear is great for anti-aging (I'll try one soon and let you know). One thing I noticed though is that Monday evenings are PACKED! I think I'll try to avoid after work on Mondays. Otherwise, UNC Wellness Center and it's services are worth every penny!
Pros: Great staff and facility
Cons: really busy on Mondays after work
