Review content:
I called to make an appt on 4/6 for a contact lens exam. I had been here for my previous visit and did buy contacts from them previously but was not happy with their price. I came in for my visit on 4/10 The doctor, Dr. Lynda DAO was nice. After my exam she gave me a prescription for glasses. When I was paying for my visit I asked the reception/assistant if I could use that prescription for contacts. She said yes. I knew this was wrong. She then asked me if I wanted to buy 4 boxes for $108. I told her no, I can get my lenses cheaper online through my insurance company. I walked out to my car and thought "I know I need a prescription for contacts" so I went back in. This time the doctor was there. I again requested a prescription for my contacts. The doctor said no problem, but said "Didn't you just get 4 boxes from us". The assistant said rudely, "no, she is getting them online". The doctor said ok, no problem. She wrote me a prescription. So I get home to order my prescriptions using the 800 number my insurance gave me and they tell me I can't because Pearl Vision already sent in a claim for contact lenses on 4/6! I called Pearl Vision and the rude assistant tells me "That's why you should have bought them here because you are not allowed to 'split' your benefits like that. If you don't get your contacts from us you have to pay out of pocket elsewhere". I told her I had never heard of that before. She said "Well maybe we can change the pre-authorization but I am too busy right now so it will have to be later". I immediately called EyeMed who told me she had lied. I can get my contacts anywhere and they should NOT have pre-authorized contact lenses at the time I called in for an appointment and that I can call the claims department on Monday to get it taken off. This is BAD business and BAD treatment and I will never go there again because of the unprofessional way I was treated by the assistant. Again I will say the doctor was nice and professional. I may go to her other office on East Chase next time.
Pros: The doctor was nice and professional
Cons: The assistant and biller is not knowledgeable and is rude
