I started my search 6 months prior to my wedding. I knew it could be difficult to find a style I could afford and I know that it takes 8-10 weeks to order wedding dresses. I went to Jinny's on the suggestion of several vendors from a Long Beach bridal show. They said that Jinny's had a great selection and prices that were approx. 20% below standard high end shops. I went in with a certain silhouette in mind for or my frame but my sales associate, Marina, made addtional suggestions. Marina was helpful & she did not rush me through the process and ended up choosing my ideal dress that was completely different than I expected. Out of the 10+, I chose the 3rd most expensive but it was silk and not poly so I was purchasing quality and a new 2008 design. These dresses are NOT made to the persons body measurements, they are made to the manufacture charts. I was shown the size chart after I was measured. I viewed the chart and saw how the dress was going to be cut and would need to order to the largest body part size and would have to alter down for my final measurements. I am normally a size 4 and the chart shows me as a size 8 so I ordered a size 8. My dress was took about 7 weeks to come in because the dress is made when an order is placed. I think there are generally complaints to this and any specialty dress shop establishment because the bride will either change her mind, she is not realistic about her measurements or she gains weight. I encountered several "bridezillas" at the shop during my appointment and I feel bad for the pressures that the sales staff has to endure when the brides have attitude issues. At this writing I have wait until I get closer to my wedding day to alter my dress. Overall, I had a very easy breezy shopping experience at Jinny's and my dress is a beauty. Can't wait to get married!
