I took an eye exam last year, and the optometrist told me that because my vision was extremely impaired, he could not prescribe me any glasses. He referred me to a specialist. I was diagnosed with cataracts, and I was told my lenses would need to be crushed and replaced. I had never been in a hospital (except to have my children), so I was in shock. I kept putting off thinking about surgery on my eyes. It was the most frightening experience I could imagine. I tried all kinds of drops and remedies that might reverse the effects of cataracts. Nothing worked and the cataracts accelerated until I could not drive or read anything. Finally, I heard Dr. Sondheimers video on the Internet. I knew nothing about cataracts, but he offered a step-by-step detailed explanation of exactly what they were. During my consultation with him, he explained that because I had astigmatism, he would sculpture the new lens to fit my eyes individual specifications. I cant express how grateful I am for his patience in answering all my questions over and over until I truly understood. I didnt feel like just another patient. After the consultation, I felt totally confident that I was in great hands. His one-on-one approach supersedes his expertise. Because I didnt have insurance, he made my payments affordable with a payment plan that fit my budget. During the procedure, I was completely awake. Dr. Sondheimer and his is professional staff were courteous, and their bedside manner was impeccable, remarkable, and wonderful. Throughout the surgery, all I saw was beautiful lights. He assured me that the procedure would take no longer than 15 to 20 minutes, and he was right on the button. I was shocked at how quickly the procedure took. It was amazing how perfect my eyesight was after the surgery. It was totally painless with no discomfort. No patches or stitches were necessary. Any fears I had regarding the surgery were totally unwarranted. After knowing the outcome of the surgery of my right eye under his care, I looked forward with absolute anticipation to have my left eye worked on. I never dreamed Id be excited to have invasive surgery. If I had known what I know now about how wonderful the outcome of the surgery is, I would have gotten the procedure done months ago. I now have 20/20 vision. Life without glasses or contacts is more amazing than I imagined. I was able to drive my car within two days. I sincerely recommend Dr. Sondhimer. His reputation does him justice. I am able to fully function, and I have a renewed confidence that I had lost beforehand. I have only praise for such a dedicated, experienced, and remarkable doctor.
