Review content:
I haven't been to Tomahawk Lake since I was a kid, and remembered it fondly. I went back this year with my 5 kids and was a little nervous based on some of the reviews I read. I have to say we had the BEST time there! It's located in beautiful, rural Sparta so the ride alone was breath-taking. The price was great as far as I was concerned. The beach-side was a bit crowded with some day-camps taking advantage of the great weather, but I teach my children how to share and they had fun meeting new friends. The water park was awesomely fun. There were barely lines and the staff was friendly. As for the reviewers who complained that it was diry...it's a lake...it's not a chlorinated pool...there are minnows swimming happily and to me that means it's a healthy lake. There were no foul smells or sites. It is a safe place if you are willing to walk with your younger children or set reasonable parameters with your older children. If you want to sit with a margherita in your hand poolside while your kids run around unattended on padded walkways and slide down fiberglass slides gushing with chemically "cleaned" water...then this isn't the place for you. If you want to drink in the beauty of nature while having fun sliding down a ton of water slides, play mini golf as a family, ride a swan paddle boat, and watch your kids beam with happiness...go to Tomahawk Lake.
