We went to get a gift for my mother. Our 4 year old was going to make her a heart shaped ceramic container. When we went inside, we were told rather rudely by the woman working there that the items would not be available by Christmas. OK, we're Jewish - this is a birthday gift, we don't care; a sign could have said the same thing. Then we were asked if we were both painting. The entire reason we were doing this is so my mom could have something that our daughter made, so I said just she was painting. The woman then went on and on about her washing her hands. Trust me, lady, her hands are clean. When the piece was ready, I went over some sections to make it dark enough to show up. She saw this and said "I guess the both of you are painting then." OK, fine, I'll pay for 2 - fair enough, but still tacky. When the piece was washed, she snatched it away saying that my daughter obviously couldn't do it. (She would have been perfectly capable). There was one other woman in the store. I told my daughter that she wasn't being a nice lady and that we wouldn't be coming back. I apologized to the only other customer, if we were disturbing her, and she said "No, I'm totally with you - this is MY last time coming here too!" Lastly, as I was paying, my daughter was playing with some sponges - nothing breakable - the lady snatched them away and said "OK, you had your turn, come back another time". I hadn't had such rude service anywhere in years, so after thinking about it, I called the place later and asked if there was a manager I could speak to to describe the horrible experience. The manager turned out to be the woman's husband..awkward. But rather than let me explain how rude his wife was, he did not listen at all and just made excuses; that she was stressed due to the Holidays - how stressed could she have been with 2 customers in the store? Pros: Neat concept Cons: Ruined by terrible service
