Review content:
The Cherry Pit sits in the heart of Deerfield. Customers include everyone from senior citizens, to young mothers, to some Chicago Bulls. The food portions are generous and you can watch your meals being cooked at the open grill. Favorites include giant egg white omlettes and crunchy french toast. Original salads and standard burgers round off the lunch menu. The waitstaff includes the two owners, who treat you like family. They also have a waiter/manager who is amazing with children. I've seen little kids cry when they come in and discover that it's his day off. Pictures drawn by their littlest customers adorn the walls, mixed with all kinds of cherry collections. The back wall has a large mural depicting the cherry orchards in Door County, Wisconsin. Weekends can get crazy, so it's best to make reservations. Even so, with the small dining space, you may still have to wait.
Pros: excellent breakfasts, attentive service, family atmosphere
Cons: parking in back, crowded on weekends
