I lived at Seeds of Hope for 8 months after leaving an inpatient rehab facility. Seeds of Hope is a halfway house located on the west side of Indianapolis. It is only a couple blocks from the number 8 bus for residents who do not drive.
It is a well structured environment with 24-hr a day staff on hand. Residents must pay rent and look for a job. Once you arrive you work in their thrift store one week and job search the next week. During this time you accrue rent. Once you obtain employment you turn your checks over to staff. They use it to pay back/current rent. You are given $40/ wk for expenses.
They provide food. There is always food to eat, it may not be what you want to eat, but there is always food to eat. Once you are caught up with rent they start a savings account for you. This helps you prepare to transition out of the program.
There are different levels each allowing more freedom and responsibility. Seeds of Hope is strict, but it teaches you a new way to live. I was homeless, jobless and hopeless before going through the Seeds of Hope Program.
Since leaving Seeds of Hope I have been clean for almost 3 years, and I have graduated college with two B.S. degrees, and I have maintained steady employment. I will be forever grateful for the lessons I learned at Seeds of Hope.
