Businiess name:  Kim's Bike Shop

Review content:
I have been going to Kim's for years because they are the only shop in New Brunswick. I understand they are a business but they never helped me without charging for it. Simple things like giving me some advice, allowing me to inflate my tires, it was always a hassle. The owners and their son are all right but all the mechanics they hire are the worst in my experience. Anyway, I relocated after graduating from RU and left my bike with them so they could ship it. The owner told me that the shipping costs and packaging fee would be $230 maximum and that I could include an extra wheelset. Great. I left it with them and then as soon as I was out of the state I called and they said it would actually cost me $340. What choice did I have? None. They charged me and then I asked them repeatedly for the UPS tracking number (a simple e-mail would have sufficed) and they didn't give it to me. There was always an excuse, something they had to do, or they said someone would e-mail it to me. I had to keep calling them three or four different times later and I finally got somone to give it to me. I finally tracked it and found out that that same day my package was going to arrive. When I opened the box, I found the bike zip-tied together really poorly. Hastily. The mechanic at the receiving end with me said that it was the worst packing job he'd seen. My bike's brakes were totally hyperextended and broken. The spokes on my wheels were being pushed up against other parts of my bike and my wheels are noticeably untrue now. I was thankful that there wasn't more damage but really dissapointed and pissed off. I would never do business with them again. I may never have to, but I'm going to make sure that every cyclist I know who is still in New Brunswick knows not to repeat my mistake. Don't have them pack anything for you and don't expect more than the bare minimum. Expect hassles, excuses, delays, and annoyance.
