Review content:
Fifteen years ago I was diagnosed with bipolar 1. For many years I was on three medications: an anti-psychotic, a mood stabilizer, and an anti-depressant. Despite taking these strong medications I still had mood swings and aggression. All the drugs did was simply take off the edge. In 2009, I still had asthma and acid reflux, and I started seeing Dr. Dan Geck. Through spinal adjustments and nutritional supplements those two problems were brought under control. He decided to do a hair analysis and found that I had a high level of copper, so he gave me Zinc and other nutritional supplements to get that under control. I read a research study that found elevated copper in people prone to mood swings, episodic violence, poor stress control, ADD, sleep disturbance and fearfulness. After lowering my copper level I felt more peaceful and in control of my emotions. I was better able to handle stress. Since I didn’t have health insurance, I could no longer get the anti-psychotic med I was taking so I tapered off until drug free. The bipolar symptoms I once had have not returned. Brain chemistry can be affected by what you eat and your environment. Trace metals and chemical sensitivities can cause mood swings and hyper-activity as does nutritional deficiency.
