I took my car into BH Mercedes July 5th because the check engine light went on. I left the car and took a rental because I had some appts that day. At about 4pm or so I get a call from my service rep telling me that the "relay" in the car was burnt and was not communicating to the part of the car that controls the emissions and that it would cost almost $400 to fix. I told the rep that I needed to get permission from my husband to get the work done and that I would call back. I got online to research my "supposed" almost $400 car repair issue, and in 20 minutes I found out that the "relay" part cost $14-$20. I called some reputable NON-Mercedes auto repair shops and all of them explained to me that changing that particular relay in the car would take a few minutes and cost me $50-$75 to get repaired at their shop. I showed up at BH Mercedes about 55 minutes after their initial call to me with a quote to pick up my car without getting the ~$400 repair done. The rep showed he was perturbed with me and then presented me with a bill for a $150 diagnosis fee. After showing my anger and sharing with them what I found out by calling other shops regarding my "relay" repair, they waived the $150 diagnosis fee and told me that if I were to come back I would be charged $150 for every single diagnosis at any single visit. The story gets better.......I left BH Mercedes and went to Magic Touch on LA Brea and they found that there was nothing wrong with the "relay" in my car like BH had claimed but rather there was a computer glitch in my system. All BH had to do to fix the glitch and turn the check engine light off was to hook their software to my cars computer system and run it through for about 10 minutes. Yes, 10 minutes of BH Mercedes time was going to cost me almost $400! I left Magic Touch more educated about my car and the dishonesty of BH Mercedes as well as still having all my money in my pocket...Magic Touch did not even charge for looking at my car. THREE months later and my check engine light has not been on since. BH MERCEDES, shame on you for taking advantage of people! And thank you MAGIC TOUCH on La Brea for your time and honesty:)
