Review content:
The Water Park Of America is a fun place to spend the day. We took our 9 year-old nephew and his buddy on a Saturday and were engaged all day. Pretty standard stuff here with 6 long to very long slides, a wave pool, "lazy river" flow rider, multiple kids play areas (include smaller water slides)... Well, you get the point. It really is a fun place, if on the pricey side. Food quality: To spent a whole lot less money, pack a lunch if you can. Although I don't believe food & drink are supposed to be brought in, it looked as if families were packing small coolers. The in-house food area is small, the food is warm at best and there is very little focus on quality. The focus is fast and what kids will eat: warm pizza, chicken fingers, simple hamburgers and cheese burgers. For anything else, hit the hotel but you'll need to change first. Changing room. First of all, this place is run by teens and young adults. Cleaning or maintenance staff along with older adults beyond guests were not seen. Second, the changing room was apparently an after-thought provided primarily as a means to channel the masses into and out of the pool. On yesterday's trip we found that 2 out of only 4 toilets were clogged beyond use; there are only 3 urinals thus sending a message that peeing in the pools is perfectly acceptable; only 1 out of 5 showers tested sprayed water at all and there is only one long bench for a small number of lockers which are rented for $6 a 6-hour stretch. All in all, the locker room was cramped, dirty, badly maintained and in need of attention from 10 am until we departed around 3 pm. Last, unless you are staying until 10 pm, the first departure time is 4 pm; it is advisable that you strongly consider heading to the locker room well before that! In the end, if you can wear a swim suit in and then out again without having to use the locker room, you'll be better off. Locker room aside, the water park was fun and we wore ourselves out with the boys. Pros: Loads of fun for young to older Cons: Dressing Room
