McHorrible!!!
About 4 years ago I contracted them to replace my chimney chase covers with stainless steel ones that would last a life time and not rust through like the ones I had. This was an expensive repair but I did it because they assured me it would last a lifetime, however they only offered a short guarantee for their work. My wife paid them while I was away and soon after one of the chimneys was leaking. They came out right away and fixed it??? I wondered how the new cover ever leaked in the first place but I forgot about it since they apparently corrected the leak. This winter I had a pellet stove installed in one of the fireplace and the installer reported a leak. He did what I should have done and went to inspect the chase cover. When he looked at it he was amazed to find out how terribly it was installed. McPuff had installed a chase cover with an opening for an 8" flu. However I have a 6" flu pipe. To make things worse the cover didn't even have a flange to seal against the flu. I suspect the estimator must have ordered two covers with 8" openings incorrectly and without any flanges. Instead of reordering new covers, with the correct size opening, he simply went ahead and installed the covers and filled the 2" gap around the flu with several calk tubes of what looked like liquid nails adhesive. This explained why the cover leaked so soon after installation and it also explained why they came back immediately to the first leak. They wanted to be sure I didn't go up and see what a crap job they had done so soon after the installation. They probably get away with this all the time because people are to scared, uncomfortable or lazy to scale a ladder and inspect the work like me. I called them to report a leak when I learned of the second leak and left a few messages and as you can imagine they have not returned my calls. No wonder since according to an earlier review they don't even call new prospects. This was a terrible experience as now I will need to hire another company to replace the chases and
