(Dec 2005)
I first went to Bliss Spa Chicago a few months after it first opened (Dec. 2005) for christmas. I treated my family (2 Sister's, my Mom & Dad) to pedicures for the holiday to relax everyone. We first arrived to the front desk and the receptionist unfortunately had terrible customer service skills. We were then rushed to the stations only to find the technicians very unfriendly. At the time they had a pedicure special for the holidays which included a free orange sugar scrub container to go home. Unfortunately it was like pulling teeth for them to honor the special in which we had to remind them about. Overall our services were anything but relaxing and they were extremely overpriced pedicures($70) for the quality we received. We were anything but relaxed when we left. The staff for some reason acted as if they were to good to help you.
**(Dec 2006)**
I recently went back to Bliss for a manicure thinking that they would have improved things since they have had a year to correct things. I have to say the receptionist was an improvement she was very nice, the spa smelled wonderful and the ambience was great. Unfortunately the manicure was still terrible. She barely did anything. I asked for square which is pretty easy and I ended up with uneven rounded nails, my cuticles looked horrible, she cut my finger and the polish was uneven. I couldn't believe I had just received a manicure I was very unimpressed. My sister and I have been to many spas all over the place some were good, some were bad. We like to spa hop and try different places out, everyone needs a little break to relax and pamper themselves. I've been a nail tech for 8 yrs now and for some reason people just don't take pride in their work anymore. The quality was terrible for price. It was almost as if I hadn't got a manicure but gave someone $35. I gave them the benefit of the doubt by trying them again but it sadly disappointed me yet again. Don't waste your time or money on this place.
Pros: Ambience was modern and simplistic, it smelled wonderful
Cons: The staff was horrible, service quality was awful, NOT recommended
