Dixie Stampede is Dolly Parton's contribution to central FL's wide array of dinner-show attractions. We have seen almost all of the shows around here, and although we enjoyed Dixie Stampede, we felt that other shows were better.
A little heavy on the 'country/southern' slant here - which is fine if you like that sort of thing. To me, the 'southern drawl' got a little old by the end of the evening. There were several very enjoyable moments in the show - I particularly liked the pig races!
Food was very good, and they give you very generous portions. We are disappointed to learn that they no longer have the Electric Horseman doing a pre-show, as they did when we visited - that was almost nicer than the main show itself!
Unlike other area dinner-show attractions, Dixie Stampede does not serve alcoholic drinks at all.
Wheelchair seating was extremely poorly planned. We were seated at a very uppermost/rearmost location, directly in front of a service door. So the unavoidable noise of the servers continually going in & out was very distracting & annoying. My husband was bumped several times (accidentally) by servers, and after we left, we discovered that some soup had been splashed on the back of his wheelchair, and it was a sticky nasty mess to clean up.
The very best part of Dixie Stampede, in my opinion, is the outdoor stable area. Before you enter the building, there is a line of stalls where you can see some of the different horses that perform in the show. Beautiful creatures!! We enjoyed looking at them at our leisure more than we enjoyed the dinner show itself, I believe!
Typical ticket cost for this show. App. $50 per person for adults. This is the norm for this type of attraction.
All in all, this was a nice show, but because of the wheelchair seating, we personally would not go back. We were given free tickets a few months ago, and we gave them to friends rather than returning to the show ourselves, that's how little we cared about returning to Dixie Stampede. Even without the wheelchair-access problem, we feel that Arabian Nights and Pirates Dinner Adventure are much better shows for your money.
