Review content:
I've been a resident of this UES neighborhood for 5 years. Since I've frequented McCabes it has gone straight downhill. This is unfortunate as the neighborhood needs a decent wine/spirits store.
The staff is surly and uneducated and the wine selection has thinned. I second the previous post which notes a lack of care and/or enthusiasm from the cash register women. The stock boy (maybe a young man) was aggressive and pushy and did not know simple terms. He seemed to ask your budget and then push a more expensive bottle or move to an entirely different type of wine.
Over the winter, I saw the same man yell at a young woman with something related to her friend being a Mormon and he needed to see her ID. (Mormons don't drink and she had her CLDS card on her and passport proving she was Brazilian) He actually had the nerve to say "he didn't give a rat's a** about her religion". I was utterly shocked. For a store that employs Ethiopian nationals (work status unclear), this was highly inappropriate.
Please McCabe's, fire the duds and get back on track!
