I was out in southern California for spring break last week and rented a car from Budget during my stay. I reserved the car online a few days before I arrived. My flight arrived in LAX late Friday night. I waited a few minutes for a shuttle bus to take me to Budget. My wait time to get into my car was about 10 minutes. I got a Ford Focus and was surprised by the good gas mileage it got during my trip. Beware, the check out person will try and upsell you extra stuff like insurance and fuel purchase when you get the car. Be sure to evaluate if you need it or not. If you car insurance already covers rentals, then why spend the extra money? If you're not going to bring the car back on E, then don't get the prepaid fuel.
Returning the car was really easy as well. You park the car in a well labeled area and someone comes by to check the car and print you a receipt. The shuttle back to the airport was already waiting and fortunately I was the only passenger so I got to the airport really quick (I was running late).
I would definitely rent from Budget again.
