I went to Tangerine (an Aveda spa) as part of my search for a day-of hair & makeup place. Everyone was super-nice, and in 20 minutes, I knew that I'd found my hair place. But, almost an hour later, I knew that I hadn't found my make-up place. The dewy-shimmer look doesn't work well on anyone over 25, especially not for wedding photos. This would be minus a star, but...I also arranged to have the rest of the wedding party get their hair done the "day of". They opened two hours early for us, had some snacks (mini-muffins!) and beverages ready for us, and got everyone looking picture-perfect. And, when one of the bridesmaids bailed 15 minutes before the appointment, my brother (a groomsman) took her place. Tangerine took the change in-stride, gave him a haircut (made mom happy), and used just the right amount and type of product so that his hair didn't look like it had product. As far as my hair, Jessie did an outstanding job with my up-do, and during the big day, my hair stayed impeccable, natural looking, and in place for 16 hours (it was a long day)... even with the veil attached for six hours. And, with the fine hair that I have, this is no easy thing.
