Z&R were called after I saw an unusual liquid, dark stain under the outdoor A/C unit, which is new, having been installed on 6-19-18 . Since the fluid had never been seen before. (40+ years) I thought it was not normal and decided to get Z&R as a preventive maintenance measure. The service person offered 3 possible causes for this previously unseen problem: 1. Rain water washes through the louvers in the bottom of the unit. ( It had not rained for several days) 2. The thick, black rubber insulation around one of the refrigerant tubes may be tripping black condensation water. 3. The dark gray color of the surrounding coolant fins may be dripping water due to the copper tubing inside being corroded.
These answers were not acceptable and believed to have been offered because the tech was not sure of the cause of the problem. And he thought that this old man (86) would be satisfied with his extensive knowledge of air conditioning.
