They make a stir fry Black Cod dish that's pretty decent and I asked the server for an idea of the basic recipe (maybe it was the owner/manager) - he laughed at me and walked away. \r Not very friendly.\r There are friendlier and more accommodating places to eat in Juneau. Certainly more affordably priced!\r \r I don't visit Juneau often, but when I do - I won't return to this restaurant thanks to the attitude of the server/owner/manager or whatever he is. more

Zen restaurant Goldbelt Hotel Juneau, Alaska. 04February2011\r \r The atmosphere was decent. The floor was stained. The 22-23 year old waiter was curt. I asked for water, it was filtered and taste great (unfiltered Juneau city water taste awful). I ordered ginger halibut. The fish taste old and there were several giant inch chunks of unpeeled ginger, vegetables over cooked and very oily . I asked my lunch date to taste the fish and she said it taste old as well. I continued to eat the halibut trying to be sure of what I was tasting. Overall this was a poor dining experience at a high price. The waiter did not returned to ask about our meal. We received the bill and I asked to speak to the manager. The waiter said ?he? was the manager. I pointed out the complaint and he said they do not peel ginger and they have a limited supply of halibut. What? Yes, he did say this. I have lived in various locations of Alaska for 9 years including 4 years in Southeast Alaska. T more

Zen is a relatively new restaurant in Juneau which offers something a little different than the norm- asian fusion. The food is fairly tasty, but can be a little pricey. The staff is very friendly more

Zen is the Goldbelt Hotel's "asian fusion" restaurant. The food is fairly good, with a nice seafood selection, but it's pretty overpriced. I ate there soon after it had opened, and the portions were huge and the service was slow. They may have sorted out these problems by now, but I'd still go somewhere else for a good meal. more
