Editorial review from Citysearch 11/2/2013

Just purchased a wedding dress here, and everyone was very friendly and nice. I've been in this store several times before, and have always been treated very well, despite the fact that I generally purchase only small items like barrettes (if anything). This wedding dress is the first piece of clothing I have ever bought from Yvonne Lafleur. The fitting was as comfortable as it could be (I'm an hourglass with a wide bottom but a teeny waist, so I knew the attendant would have to do lots of pinning and that narrower silhouettes might not make it over my hips), and it all went very smoothly in spite of my jitters. I ended up buying the first dress I tried on (but did try on lots of other dresses, too). The dress is beautiful, and I can't wait to see how it looks after alterations. The attendant was so sweet, and really put me at ease even though I hate trying on clothing. \r \r I'm sorry that some people here seemed to have been ill-treated at this store, but that has never been my experience. I feel that I'm a very awkward, dorky person and I certainly don't look like I have money, but I have always been treated very well by every person I encounter here. \r \r I am not a bridezilla. I just want to look pretty. I will probably ask them to make me a silk flower fascinator to wear with my veil. A very nice experience, and they even broke out the champagne for me and my mother! A+++ more

Editorial review from Citysearch 7/27/2012

Completely Rude! Poor quality, rude, disrespectful, and terrible, in fact. When I was searching for a wedding gown, I visited this shop first, because I had heard good things. The woman insulted me, told me that my simple tastes were cheap, and tried to sell me an absolutely hideous white polyester graduation gown. When I returned to the store several months later with a friend who was having alterations done on a gown she unfortunately purchased there, Yvonne had the nerve to tell me that the designer who made my lovely wedding gown (I of course purchased elsewhere) was ""trashy."" I couldn't believe how poorly I was treated. more

Rude behavior accurate 2/21/2012

I fell across these reviews while searching for ladies' gloves and was reminded of my own personal dreadful experience with Yvonne Lafleur. After I had ordered my bridal hat (and prepaid), I waited three months to be notifed that it was ready for pick up. I finally called and was told that it had been finished for months and that they hadn't notified me because my mother in law had called to say she was wearing it.! My mother in law lives out of town and didn't know anything about my hat. My own mother was terminally ill. In addition, there were snide comments about my ""slick"" hair. Really!? I walked into her store in July in New Orleans. Then, comments were made about my clothes smelling of cigarette smoke. My husband smokes. All in all, there are other milliners in this city that I would shop with before ever returning here. I personally know no one who has had a pleasant shopping experience with Ms. Lafleur. Appalling! more

Bridal No-Go: Pompous, Disrespectful, Awkward 9/24/2011

I joined my friend for a bridal appointment and it was a very uncomfortable experience, probably the most awkward I have felt at a business in my life. She wanted to go there after buying a ball gown with Yvonne earlier this year, so she had glowing reviews and expected the bridal experience to be similar. The way the bridal room is set up is neat, with dresses hanging from the ceiling so you can really see them. We walked around in there for quite some time before a employee helped us. As soon as the sales girls found this out that her mom lives out of town and wouldn't be at the appointment, they were in a rush to get her out of there, assuming that there was no money to be made. She was only allowed 4 gowns because they ""don't really do try-on appointments, especially on Saturdays"" (no one else was in there at the time and there were 2 girls helping us). When she came out in a dress, it was ""absolutely gorgeous on you"", ""soooooo pretty"", ""beeeeeautiful""...none of them were as pretty or as nice as the ones she tried on earlier at another local shop appointment. She was scolded for touching the front of a silk dress because they sell the samples. There were repeated comments about ""when your mama comes"". The funny thing about that is, how do you assume that someone will be back if you disrespect them when they come in to look at what you have to offer? Every person in that shop thinks they are better than you, and those two girls definitely made it clear that my friend wasted their precious time. Thank goodness the appointment was rushed and over in 20 minutes because I just wanted to crawl under that Victorian couch and hide. I am also engaged, so they not only lost her business, but could have gained a customer in me as well if they treated us like we deserved to be there. After reading here that her dresses are hacks, I believe it. They are masking poor customer service with a pompous attitude and masking cheap dresses with a ""private label"". They think that everything they have is amazing and that their poop doesn't stink (probably because they can't smell it over that awful perfume scent of the shop). more

Terrible Service and Lack of Moral fiber 7/14/2011

Yvonne La Fleur and her staff are very condesending and have a lack of moral fiber when dealing with a problem. \r \r They shipped my daughter a $1306 wedding dress by UPS and did not put a value to include insurance. Not doing this caused the package to be left outdoors. The wedding dress was damaged by dogs because it required no signature. Not to mention they charged a $30 shipping charge which actually cost $7.13 to ship. To put insurance would have cost an extra $10.31. We would have gladly paid. I would not have even thought they would ship something of that value without it. (I still have the dress and the torn up box.) As a business we ship UPS everyday and insure all expensive packages and they require a signature from the driver and the reciever.\r \r When contacted they accused my daughter of lying and refused to even file a claim with UPS. UPS requires the shipper to make the claim. I was assured by UPS that they would have paid if it was insured. Yvonne La Fleur would not even grant us this courtesy. Gordan said he was not going to do anything. (This is when I called, by the way he called me a liar as well.)\r \r Yvonne La Fleur and Gordan told me too bad, and to file with my homeowners insurance refusing any type of help. At this point its really not an issue of money. It's their lack of moral character. She may be respected among her elite, however I would suspect not so much among regular everyday people.\r \r In closing, once they have your money, you are a second rate citizen not worthy of their attention.\r \r I would recomend you find someone else that cares about your business. As a person who runs a small business I can assure you our customers are not treated like they are trailer trash once we have made the sale.\r \r KP Provost\r Pro-Drive Outboards, LLC\r more

Bringing European stlye and elegance to the Big Easy 6/22/2011

I was born and have lived in New Orleans all my life, and never have I found a store with a better selection or friendlier service. The inside of the boutique is beautifully covered with displayed merchandise- hanging silk slips, glittering jewelry, and racks and racks of clothes. All kinds of clothes, too! She's covered the gambit from lingerie to French trousers to stunning evening gowns. I personally enjoy her 'sportswear' (smart casual) department, where I know I can buy cute separates of high quality that will last me years. Her bridal department is a MUST SEE. Secluded in a salon all its own, the opulent, sparkling gowns are hung from the high ceiling so the long trains can be seen. It's truly a bride's fantasy land. Best of all is the attention to detail; every employee there is looking to help you find just what you need. It's really like shopping with your best friend! After chatting for a bit, they will find out what your style is- and pull out clothes that match you perfectly. I am always amazed at the hidden treasures they find in the clothing racks that I had previously passed. Also, alterations are ALWAYS free- any kind of alterations, on anything you buy, be it a satin ball gown or a tweed suit or a brassier. You don't find that anywhere anymore. The St. Charles Avenue streetcar is a block away so getting to Yvonne La Fleur's is easy even for tourists. It's also quite popular to have lunch at the nearby Camilla Grill before or after a wonderful few hours of girly shopping~! more

Fabulous, unique clothing finds at Yvonne La Fleur 6/22/2011

I moved to New Orleans a few years back and fell in love with Yvonne La Fleur. Since my first visit, Yvonne and her fab daughters have helped me find everything from gorgeous cocktail dresses to sportswear that I haven't been able to find ANYWHERE else. They have gone above and beyond for me and have always provided the most delightful experience. more

Great Selection, Superb Service! 6/19/2011

I recently went to Yvonne Lafleur's looking for a wedding dress. The consultant was very helpful and knowledgeable. I had gone to multiple places, from pricey upscale shops to the more affordable David's bridal. I was impressed with how much attention she had given to what I described as the type of dress I wanted. She made a point of pulling dresses within my price range as well. This is drastically different from the service I received at an upscale boutique in Baton Rouge. There, the women working were very snobby and not nearly as friendly as Yvonne and her consultants. When I told them my price range, the lady made a face and brought me straight to the sales rack. Just because the store is ""upscale"" and pricey, it doesn't make the dresses or the service any better. At David's bridal I had a consultant who was trying to work with three different brides at the same time, so she was unable to give her full attention to assisting me. That resulted in a LONG wait for assistance. At Yvonne Lafleur's my consultant only worked with me. She was also very welcoming to both my mother and mother-in-law. Needless to say, I bought my dress and veil there. It truly was a WONDERFUL experience! more

Awful Subpar Brand B bridal boutique. Overpriced Rip-Off 6/15/2011

Yvonne LaFleur in New Orleans is the worst bridal boutique shop i have ever dealt with in the country. Their dresses are not private label. They just buy SubPar Brand B dresses, rip out the labels, then put their own in, and then upcharge you. \r \r Furthermore, if you are bigger than a Size 0 they will imply you are fat! And an uneducated 18 year old will sarcastically call you ""darling"" and care more about your credit card than you as a customer.\r \r Brides - do you and your bridesmaids and bridal party a favor - boycott and stay away from Yvonne LaFleur! What a RIPOFF! If pay top dollar for bridesmaid dress - then you expect a Tier 1 dress with Tier 1 Customer Service. AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL! more

Not Yvonne's dresses, but still beautiful 10/13/2010

The other reviewer is correct. All of Yvonne's wedding dresses come from Forever Yours Bridal or Jasmine, and she replaces the label with her own. She has a great selection, free alterations, and all dresses are under $2,000. However, all the dresses are considerably marked up from the original label's price. Buy with caution, but the buy might still be worth it if you're aware of the full situation. more

Love Your Fragances 1/28/2010

I have been wearing your fragrance since the mid 80's I have only two perfumes I wear. This one I wear during the winter months and the other which also comes from a true southern belle out of Jackson Ms are the only two perfume's I ever wear and never get tired of giving out the name of it and how to purchase it....Your boutique is awesome and your staff is so friendly...Looking frwd to getting a chance for a trip bk down to NO Pros: Wonderful more

Really good dress selection 5/2/2009

Today, I purchased a long white gown at Yvonne's. It was wedding style and considerably cheaper than David's Bridal and even Dillards. When I walked in, there was this smell that just consumed me. It was old fashion perfume and there was SO much of it. After a while I got used to it, but I felt the need to run outside for fresh air for about 10 minutes beforehand. The place wasn't well done. Generally shabby, but it was homey all at the same time. My attention was pretty much immediately taken away from that when I caught site of the dress selection they had. There were tons of dresses! And not just dresses. They had purses, underwear (naughty and nice), gloves, jewelry and a bit more. I felt like a kid in a candy shop. I was immediately helped and the woman was so ridiculously nice and helpful. She knew what I needed and she led me straight to the dress selection that fit my school requirements and price range. I had 5 dresses to try on. I loved the very first one I tried on. The woman suggested I try a couple more on just in case, and she zipped me up and down throughout the entire thing, which was EXTREMELY helpful. I ended up buying gloves also because surprisingly enough, they had them! I was even told some hairstyles that would go good with my dress. The entire purchase was about 300 dollars. Not half bad I'd say. This is not a place where you'll have one of a kind dresses. They seem to be stock dresses that have different price tags. So, if you're looking for that one of a kind dress, it isn't here. Maybe a three of a kind dress or something around there. But I was really happy with the turnout. I would strongly suggest checking it out at the very least for ANY occasion that would require a dress. Pros: attentive staff, amazing dress selection, nice dresses Cons: the smell more

Amazing Detail and Service!! 12/23/2008

I loved the experience of selecting, purchasing and having my wedding dress altered at this amazing boutique. Top notch service and handmade details for my veil were so gorgeous. I felt like a princess throughout the whole process and I looked amazing thanks to Yvonne LaFleur! Pros: Service, atmosphere, avove and beyond attitude. Cons: Only one location more

BUYERS BEWARE!! YVONNE LAFLEUR SCAMMED ME!! FRAUD!! 8/30/2008

At first, I thought my experience at Yvonne LaFleur's was beyond wonderful. I found the dress of my dreams for a reasonable price and her staff treated us like royalty. Yvonne LaFleur told my party and I that she designed my dress herself. I was so excited that I had purchased an Yvonne LaFleur designed wedding gown for my wedding. Well, one week later, while searching for bridesmaids dresses online, I accidentally came across a picture of my wedding gown made by another designer. The price was nearly $350 cheaper. I called the designer to find out what was going on. I discovered that Yvonne LaFleur purchases a large number of gowns from this wholesaler. She had removed their label and replaced it with an Yvonne LaFleur label. When I called Yvonne to question her she tried to change the subject by asking me if I am related to an old friend of hers. She proceeded to tell me the story of how they were friends in the 1960s. When I ignored her efforts to divert from the situation, she said she would have to call me back...which she did not do. I drove to the boutique to speak to her in person. She did NOT deny what she did. She simply kept replying ""this entire store is an Yvonne LaFleur collection."" She clearly showed how guilty and wrong she was. She refused to give me a refund for the dress. She said when the dress comes in we can discuss the situation again. The dress is not scheduled to come in until three months before my wedding, which will not be enough time for me to find another wedding gown. She misrepresented herself and lied to me. Horrible horrible business ethics.\r \r I WARN EVERYONE! DO NOT BUY FROM YVONNE LAFLEUR. GO INTO HER BOUTIQUE AND FIND A GOWN, THEN GO LOOK FOR IT ONLINE. YOU WILL FIND IT FOR A MUCH BETTER PRICE AND BY THE ORIGINAL DESIGNER, NOT SOMEONE WHO CLAIMS THEY DESIGNED IT. Pros: Her staff is amazing. Cons: SHE IS A FRAUD!! more

Very high end service. As good as the best boutiques in Manhatten. 8/19/2008

Beautiful store and wonderful service. My wedding was in Garden City New York and I heard about Yvonne's store and her ONE OF A KIND wedding dresses. I did not want a reproduction of someone elses dress. She took care of me herself and the dres was fitted the same day by a professional seamstress. I had it in 4 weeks. I also bought my brides maid dresses from there. Different anges and sizes and she was able to accomadate all of them beautifully. If you are picky and want very high end service Yvonne is the person to see. Thank you for making my wedding day so special. more

Beautiful Dresses, Great service 8/11/2008

The dresses in Yvonne Lafleur are just beautiful, and I love the way they hang from the ceiling. I thought the dresses would be way out of my price range, but they were actually much more reasonable than other dress shops in the city. The staff was very professional and upbeat. After I found my perfect dress, they even helped me celebrate with a glass of champagne. It was a great experience. They made the experience for my mother and I wonderful. Pros: Great service, beautiful dresses, reasonable price more

GREAT Personal Service 8/8/2008

I was not expecting to find the Wedding Dress of my dreams but that is exactly what I found at Yvonne Le Fleur. When I walked into the store with my mother, Mary Jane greeted us and said to look around the store, she would be right with us after assisting another bride to be. My mother and I began to look around and we found several dresses that were very nice. I was expecting to tell the attendant what dress I wanted to try on, go into a dressing room and try on dresses as usual. Mary Jane took it a step further. She actually suggested dresses to try on. The very first dress I tried on was simply gorgeous and soooo me. Beautiful dress, alencon lace with small beading over champagne satin. The dress was beautiful and fit me almost perfectly. Mary Jane took is another step further, she looked at my figure and added wonderful touches that accentuated my figure. I truly felt like a bride for the first time, romantic and timeless. Unfortuneatly, I could not afford the dress, but I knew the dress I wanted and was on a mission to find one I could afford. I will never forget the assistance I received and I highly recommend the shop, if you are looking for something special. Pros: Wonderful Service Cons: Expensive but worth it more

Rude Rude Rude 1/8/2008

The customer service was awful. We made an appointment to try on wedding dresses and when we showed up we were basically ignored. We went to the back room where Yvonne was helping another customer and she never even looked up at us to acknowledge that we walked into the room. We waited for 30 minutes for anyone to wait on us but they were just too busy for us! They are complete snobs and obviously don't need anymore business. Besides them being rude...the entire store needs a makeover. It smells awful in there. The store has hot pink, matted carpet that hasn't been changed since like 1980 & there are so many clothes in there that it looks like a good will store. more
